So even if I had equipment and skills to ice mine (vs ore mining which everyone is at least capable of if not inclined to) I'd be looking at 200 minutes + hauling time. Time bonus for the mission is only 40 minutes though.
So just buy it off the market right? Wrong. It's not normal ice, it's azure ice that is just made up for missions and can only be found at the bookmark my agent gives me, it's not even listed on the market. Not that it would be worth buying anyway since the mission pay is only 131k. That's a good profit for almost 4 hours right? Right?
Ah, there's the answer, almost 4 hours, suspiciously close to the timer before I can turn down the mission...
I'm curious how you figure it will take 4 hours to mine 20 cubes. A Mack pilot with decent skills and T2 Ice Harvester can do that in 30-40 min easily.
I have been doing a lot of ice mining lately, so I have figures at my fingertips.
My cycle time is 433 seconds, with no outside bonuses. This is in a Mackinaw, with 2x T1 Ice Harvesters, and 2x t1 Ice Harvester Upgrades.
I have Exhumers Skill IV (less than 2 days to go for Exhumers V!)
So, since the Mack produces 4 blocks per cycle (1 per harvester, plus a 100% bonus for the Mack), 20 blocks is 5 cycles.
5 times 433 = 2165 seconds for 5 cycles 2165 divided by 60 is 36 minutes.
OK, so much for information, now for opinion.
I think these missions suck. Saying that they'll adjust over time, and we just need to do them, is bull**** - pure unadulterated USDA Choice bull****.
Missions should be tested on the TEST server, or in some sort of beta testing. There is no excuse for putting poorly-adjusted missions into live play.
Oh, and to my fellow Gallente who is being so unkind here, there is no excuse for you telling people to "adjust or GTFO" either. Spare us the "I'm so tough, look how rough I can talk" routine.
And you "assumed" this was in high sec, oh brother!
